Coaching Goals
While there are a great many activities to accomplish and numerous objectives to be met, the USJA Coaching Education and Certification Committee has these main goals:
Run clinics and training camps throughout the country to raise the technical skills of coaches and their athletes.
Run a certification program of outstanding quality emphasizing a comprehensive approach to coaching.
Coaching Badge Procedure
Upon certification as a coach a coaching badge can be obtained by sending an e-mail to Michael Lucadamo at the USJA Headquarters with a small passport size head shot jpg. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks to receive your badge.
Safe Sport Program
Please remember all coaches now must take and pass this on-line test. You may do this at your convenience. It takes between 2 and 3 hours total but can be completed in segments. Once you have completed the program, please send a copy of the certificate and number to the USJA Office. Please go to http://www.safesport.org and click on the “Register” link under “Training” at the bottom of the page.
Attention Club leaders and Coaches:
If you wish to refer back to a feature article in Growing Judo for valuable information about teaching/coaching judo, please visit the Growing Judo Resources Page for Club Leaders and Coaches. For your convenience, this page is also linked through the USJA Club Support Services Committee page.
